Community Leader & Advocate
Meet Francesco

A Leader Forged by
Community.

Francesco Lo Greco is a community leader, advocate, and small business operator running for Mayor of Essa Township because he believes residents deserve leadership that is present, accountable, transparent, and focused on real results.

As Essa continues to grow, many residents — especially young families and younger generations — are feeling the pressure of rising costs, infrastructure challenges, limited services, and uncertainty about the future of the community. Francesco believes municipal leadership must start focusing not only on today's problems, but on building a township where the next generation can realistically live, work, raise families, and succeed.

As the founder of Therapeutic Community Care, Francesco has spent years on the front lines supporting individuals and families facing mental health challenges, addiction, housing instability, and complex social issues. His work has given him firsthand experience navigating crisis situations, understanding government systems, and advocating for people who often feel overlooked or unheard.

During a period when his work was publicly scrutinized, Francesco remained focused on supporting vulnerable individuals — demonstrating the resilience, accountability, and ability to lead under pressure that Essa Township needs right now.

Our Community

Essa Is Worth
Fighting For.

Essa is a growing community with incredible potential — hardworking families, strong rural roots, valuable farmland, beautiful natural areas, and communities that deserve thoughtful planning, better communication, and stronger local services.

For too long, many residents have felt that important decisions are being made without enough public awareness, consultation, or transparency. Concerns have been raised about the condition of our roads, the loss of farmland to residential development, rising taxes, and the lack of convenient services within our Township.

🌾
Farmland & Natural Areas
Essa's rural character and agricultural land are defining features of our Township that must be protected for future generations.
🏘️
Thoughtful Growth
New development must come with proper infrastructure, roads, services, parks, and recreation — not just more houses.
🗣️
Your Voice Matters
Essa's future should be planned with residents, not around them. Major decisions need public awareness and meaningful consultation.
Building a Complete Community

Angus & Beyond:
Local Services for Local Families

Our main commercial area is Angus, and many residents have shared their frustration that Essa has not attracted the same range of businesses and services found in surrounding South Simcoe communities. Families should not always have to drive to Barrie for basic shopping, services, and employment.

A stronger local business base would provide residents with better access to everyday needs, create more local jobs, and give our youth more summer and part-time employment opportunities right here at home.

As Mayor, I Commit To:
Improve communication between Council and residents — informed before decisions are made, not after.
Support responsible commercial development — more local services, business opportunities, and local jobs.
Protect farmland, forests, trails, and green spaces — growth balanced with preservation of what makes Essa unique.
Strengthen roads, infrastructure, and services — tax dollars directed toward real community needs.
Make the Mayor's office accessible — monthly Meet the Mayor Days in Angus, Thornton, and Baxter.
A New Kind of Leadership

Monthly "Meet the Mayor Day"

One-on-one sessions held in Angus, Thornton, and Baxter every month — so every resident across Essa can speak directly with their Mayor about concerns, ideas, and questions. No resident should feel ignored. No resident should feel left out of the conversation.

The Platform

Eight Pillars for
Essa's Future

Bold, concrete priorities grounded in the real challenges facing residents, families, and businesses.

🏗️
Roads & Infrastructure
Modernize aging infrastructure, accelerate road repair timelines, and invest in smart-growth planning before Essa's population surge overwhelms capacity.
→ Fix it now. Plan for tomorrow.
🏘️
Housing Affordability
Champion smart-growth zoning that keeps Essa accessible to young families without sacrificing the township's character, safety, or green spaces.
→ Affordable. Liveable. Ours.
💼
Local Business & Jobs
Cut red tape, strengthen the local business ecosystem, and create economic conditions that attract investment and opportunity right here in Essa.
→ Grow local. Hire local.
👨‍👩‍👧
Youth & Families
Expand recreation, after-school programming, mental health resources, and community spaces designed to help young families thrive in Essa.
→ Invest in every generation.
🛡️
Community Safety
Strengthen emergency preparedness, improve response coordination, and build a proactive safety culture that protects every resident in every neighborhood.
→ Safe streets. Prepared communities.
📊
Transparency & Accountability
Open the books. Regular public reporting, participatory budgeting, accessible town halls, and a mayor who actually shows up and answers questions.
→ Your money. Your decisions.
🤝
Seniors & Community Support
Advocate for stronger senior services, accessible programs, transportation support, recreation opportunities, and community partnerships that help seniors remain active, connected, safe, and supported throughout Essa Township.
→ A strong community takes care of every generation.
🌳
Recreation & Development
Develop parks, trails, community centres, and cultural spaces that make Essa a place people are proud to call home — not just a place to sleep.
→ More than a bedroom community.
Planning for Growth
Growth is coming — but growth must be managed responsibly. Residents deserve to know how major planning decisions will affect their neighbourhoods, farmland, forests, trails, and quality of life.
01
Protect What Makes Essa Special
Development should not come at the expense of the natural and rural character that makes Essa such a special place to live. We must preserve our forests, farmland, and green spaces as we grow.
02
Infrastructure Before Expansion
New development must include proper roads, services, parks, and recreational opportunities built in — not bolted on afterward when residents are already living with the consequences.
03
Planned With Residents
Essa's future must be shaped by the people who live here. Residents will have clear information and meaningful opportunities to be heard on Official Plan updates, proposed development, and land-use changes.

What Residents Are Saying

"

As a young family, we've been frustrated watching Essa's leadership ignore the issues that actually matter to us — housing, roads, community programming. Francesco actually listens and has real plans. That's refreshing and rare.

"

Running a small business in Essa has been tough. We need leadership that understands what local business owners face — red tape, lack of services, disconnected council. Francesco gets it because he's lived it himself.

"

I never felt like local politics was for people my age. Francesco changed that. He talks about real things — internet access, youth programs, jobs — and he actually shows up. I'm volunteering for the first time ever.
